A study was done by a Norwegian Dr. Erik Solberg, MD, as reported in the magazine "Running and Fitnews", Oct' 2001 issue. The study was conducted 31 runners. It was found that those who practiced daily morning and evening 30-minute sessions of meditations had significantly less blood lactate (the chemical if produced more in the body causes muscle fatigue and soreness) after their exercising schedule, compared to those runners who didn't meditate. The efficiency and performance of the runners showed marked improvements breaking negative patterns.
"Meditating may increase your body's efficiency, so you actually produce less lactate while you exercise," explains study author Dr. Erik Solberg, MD. It's as simple as sitting quietly, breathing deeply, visualizing and focusing on a word such as RAM, OM, SHANTI, or any Word or Mantra suggested by your guide or Guru.
