Meditation is not about escaping from life's activities, it means making connections to everyday life. Be observant, perceptive and aware all the time of what is happening.
1. Open eyes and open heart. Don't "sleepwalk" through the day. Meditation will wake up your heart and mind. When you see with the open eyes, your heart will open up too. There are new insights, new wisdom. The deeper perception will offer greater connection with life.
2. Discovering beauty in the world. With your new perception you can see beauty in the small, the everyday, he everywhere and the insignificant. Become aware of the nature's different colours, textures, and sounds. Cherish a thoughtful gesture. Feel confidant in completing a tedious task. You will be able to find something good or beautiful in everything. You need only look at with newer perceptions.
3. Appreciate the whole. With new horizons in the mind expanding, you will observe suffering, small or big, and the beauty as well in the world. Try to view suffering with compassion.
4. Responding to setbacks. Setbacks and problems of life are part of life, don't have a fixed view of how life should be. Setbacks may bring new challenges. Control your language, which is an indicator of your attitude. Whether a glass half full or half empty, depends on your view.
5. Responding to change. Change can shake foundations of life you have created, yet life changes all the time. Newer foundations can be laid with new opportunities. Remembering this can make it easier for you to cope with the change. Use meditation to keep focused on the present, while letting go the future plans.
6. Be kind. Kindness is a way of putting your new awareness into action. Think back of the times that you were helped by the kindness of the others.
7. Daily Choices: Most everyday choices are just minor and not life taking decisions. But each choice has the opportunity for you to behave, think, act, or respond through self awareness. Observing your decisions will help you in you awareness in the present.
8. Welcome the day with a smile. How you wake up sets the one for the rest of the day. Greet the day with a smile and while in the bed, decide to fill it with kindness, action and success. Use these morning exercises to go about with positive mental attitude. Simple stretches, run, brisk walk, yoga and meditation will give "energy boost". Try to look forward what the day may bring, with feelings of hope and cheerfulness. You can even meditate while going about your morning routine. As you bathe, think about water as a gift of life, and make bathing a divine experience.
9. Preparing to sleep. Before going to bed sit quietly and see through all the events of the day. But try not to dwell on difficulties, struggle and antagonism. Don't be judgmental. This practice will help you to find sense of perspective and continuity in all aspects of your life. You can sit in front of a lighted candle also.
