What is Surya Dosha?
Sun (Surya in Vedic Astrology) may have dosha (dosh, dosham) called Surya dosha. This arises due to birth at the time of sankranti (Solar ingress or transit into a sign) or during an eclipse. The eclipse happens Sun is in conjunction with one of the lunar nodes (Rahu or Ketu) on a new moon or full moon day.
Remedies for Surya Dosh
There are several remedies for reducing or eliminating the malefic of planet Sun. Any one of them or a combination of two or three would suffice to remove Surya Dosh.
Gemstone: It is recommended to wear a Ruby gemstone to remove Surya Dosh or enhance the benefics of Sun. The ring can be made in gold or silver. You can energize the ring by dipping the ring in milk, honey and pure water and chanting the Surya Mantra. This should be worn only after consultation with an expert.
Rudraksha: An energized 12 Mukhi Rudraksha mala/bracelet should be worn for protection from Surya Dosh. This Rudraksha represents Lord Rama, the ruler of Sun.
Fasting: To appease planet Sun and remove its dosh it is advised that the native observe a fast on Sunday, (the day of Lord Surya Deva).
Pray to Lord Shri Ram: Rama is the ruler of Surya. Worshipping Him removes the malefic effects of Sun.
